Being a mom means a lot of things to a lot of different people. It’s the nucleus of a family, whether you are two people, three people or more. Being a mom is one of the hardest most challenging jobs in the entire world, I know this cause I am one. I have been the proud mother of two daughters by myself for the better part of fifteen years. Life has had it’s ups and downs and everywhere in betweens, but one thing has remained constant; Love. It’s a funny thing the love a mother has for her children. It defies all logic.
Moms run on little sleep, they run on coffee and wine. They run on adrenaline. Inside every amazing mother is a woman who thinks she is totally screwing her kids up and she thinks this not be cause she’s insecure, but because so much of herself has been seeded into her children that any wrong move, and bad decision and jerk attitude they see as a reflection of how they parented. Well I’m here to say enough.
Enough of shaming ourselves for our kids bad behavior or less than perfect grade or constant inability to follow the rules. We love our children no matter how they act, who they are or who they become and we love them unconditionally. That’s a love and a bond that is so strong it actually makes no sense at all. We can’t rip ourselves away from worrying about them, from wanting the best for them and for giving them everything we have at any moment. Not enhancing their lives with things, but enhancing their lives with the richness and the wisdom we have learned over the years.
We are the worlds role models. We are who our sons and daughters will look up to, who they will emulate, but we are only human. Worrying that we will fail them miserably in life and not give them the tools to effectively communicate, to grow into giving, kind hearted individuals, but the time right now is to celebrate all we do, all we give, all we are. We are more than just moms and the world knows it. We are influencers, we are the CEO’s of creating a brighter future and yes with this comes a ton of responsibility and pressure, but it’s nothing we can’t handle. We were able to function pushing a creature out of our bodies and giving life to them, we can handle this.
Don’t get me wrong, there will be times you want to quit, that you decide the importance of what we are doing is too great a burden to carry, but you won’t. You won’t give up because the love that you posses runs deeper than you will ever know, then they will ever know. You will never give up on your child and you will never give up on yourself. Because you’re the MOM. The hardest most rewarding job ever bestowed on a human being.
I am the mom to the two girls in the photo’s below They are the two most important things in my life and no matter what happens in this life, I will continue to give everything I am to them. I will continue to foster an environment that allows them to be whoever they want, I will continue to give them love and support so they know the world still contains good and kindness, I will continue to teach them things that will make them into strong, open minded woman that will some day grow up to be mom’s. And when they do my hope is that no matter what, when they look at me they see what I went through and how much I loved them.
Happy Mother’s Day to the hardest working woman in the world.
